I could NEVER do THAT!
We beg to differ...
When given proper training
and opportunities to serve
hundreds of individuals have
responded to "The Call"

Crisis Care Responders (CCR) is a new ministry outreach of  Christ For the City International (CFCI) and is based in Omaha, Nebraska. CFCI has a long history of serving others and transforming lives and cities around the world. These two ministries are committed to prepare, send and multiply those who want to model Jesus.

Many in the Church want to help but simply don't know what they can do.  We believe the Church has the opportunity and calling to model Jesus.  Crisis Care Responders is a training and mobilizing vehicle designed to carry the love of Jesus; offering hope and encouragement to those suffering loss in our communities.

 An Encouraging
Message
From
Our Directors

"Where have we been all our life?"
That was the burning question we had to ask ourselves after completing a 5 month Discipleship Training Program with Mercy Ships International.  We left our "comfortable life" in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to take "time out" to get closer to God and seek his will for our lives.  Circumstances and life changes had prompted us to thank God for the many blessings we had been given in our lives.  It soon became clear that this was going to be a life-changing event.  The first three months involved a "lecture phase".  The last two months we traveled to Honduras and lived among the poorest of the poor in a primitive cement building.  We did not have running water, electricity was sporadic (more off then on), and we saw the face of poverty up close and personal.  Disease and death surrounded us.  Both could have been prevented by having clean drinking water or access to medical care.  At times we were disgusted at our years of tunnel vision and selfishness.  We did not understand "The Great Commission" and the character of God.  Through a lot of prayer, which involved forgiving ourselves and others, it became clear that the life we had known for 51 years was about to change dramatically.  We sold our home, our business, and entered the world of full-time missions.

How we responded to "The Call"

We have been equipped by and continue to collaborate with these like-minded allies as we served with them in the following locations:

  • Mercy Ships                      (Dominican Republic, Honduras)
  • Hope Force International (Sri Lanka and Hurricane Katrina)
  • The Salvation Army           (Katrina, Kansas, Iowa, & Minn.)

God's vision for us to PREPARE, SEND, MULTIPLY
People often say, "I could never do that".  We beg to differ.  When given proper training and opportunities to serve, hundreds of individuals have responded and a number of churches have sent teams to areas of severe poverty, pain and suffering.  They have served on Emotional and Spiritual care Teams, participated in a number of short-term mission teams, and used their construction skills, and servant hearts to rebuild communities.

Recently we accepted a new position as Directors of Crisis Care Responders, an outreach ministry with Christ for the City of International.  Our passion to prepare, send and multiply others to model Jesus in all we do is being realized.  We are amazed to see individuals whose hearts were filled with bitterness begin to soften through the "ministry of presence" and simple acts of compassion. Please join us in the call to "make a difference" and give God the glory.
                                       You Can Do It!
